However, in our blog section, we do cover a range of topics for both men and women in different categories of travel. We are Pakistan’s leading travel platform for girls. Our community of travelers, contributors, writers, and readers is growing every day.
OUR STORY
HOW DID TRAVEL GIRLS PAKISTAN BEGIN?
Travel Girls Pakistan was started simply as an Instagram page by Amna Zafar (the founder). She writes “I made the Instagram page because I did not find a single page that celebrated/appreciated Pakistani female travelers dedicatedly. I thought there must be girls like me looking for inspiration to travel or someone to relate to. This is where it all began. I also wanted to connect with other female Pakistani travelers who could share their content, knowledge, and experience about traveling within or outside Pakistan. That happened within a few weeks. The response was unbelievable. My mailbox was flooded with messages of appreciation and lots of pictures to share from hundreds of Pakistani girls. These girls all wanted to contribute to the cause of motivating other girls to travel through their travel content.”
HOW DID THE PAGE EXPAND INTO A PLATFORM?
Our founder (Amna Zafar) had the opportunity to travel for work to some of the remote and isolated regions of northern Pakistan. Some of her favorite destinations in Pakistan are Basho Valley, Hushe Valley, etc. These beautiful valleys provide a safe environment for girls to explore apart from the extraordinary landscape. Unfortunately, these areas among many others are not known by the majority of the local tourists in Pakistan. The natural beauty of the country and its people have left a deep impact on her since.Given her exposure to the far-flung areas of northern Pakistan and the tremendous online response (including increasing userbase) from people, Amna saw the potential to expand the project by moving towards a website platform with a community element to it which could have a much larger audience around the world. She stresses that she could not do it alone and that she knew that it could only be successful on a model of inclusiveness where girls can come together and contribute content voluntarily. She identified the missing links and found out that coordination and networking were lacking between female travelers in Pakistan. Working on the missing links made Travel Girls Pakistan possible.
WHAT IS TRAVEL GIRLS PAKISTAN DOING AT THE MOMENT?
Travel Girls Pakistan is primarily working on all-female travel things. It aims to create an enabling online environment for female travelers to express their views. It also aims to promote Pakistan as a destination among other things by producing/showcasing creative content on different subjects including:
- Travel tips or processes to different countries from Pakistan
- Travel stories to different countries around the world that begin from Pakistan
- Travel itineraries & guides by Pakistani travelers to foreign countries
- Stories and experiences of female and male travelers within Pakistan
- Food and travel guide of Pakistan’s tourist destinations
- Safety and security tips from different travelers (women and men) for different destinations (domestic and international)
- Travel tips for different styles of travelers (families, trekkers, campers, solo, etc.)
- Dos and Don’ts for tourists in different destinations of Pakistan
- Anything outdoor-related from across Pakistan (travel story, tips, travel guide, inspiration, resources, news, etc.)
- The historic relevance of tourist attractions in Pakistan
WHAT DOES TRAVEL GIRLS PAKISTAN AIM TO ACHIEVE IN THE FUTURE?
Tourism is being promoted by the current government and it is vital to create a space in travel domain for girls (from policy level to grassroots). We need to have a sufficient user base to make this happen. We aim to:
- Continue producing and disseminating quality content
- Continue expanding our volunteers and contributors (e.g. Writers, Bloggers, Vloggers, Youtubers, Photographers, Videographers, etc.)
- Continue expanding our online community of Pakistani female travelers
- Create a one-stop solution for all female travelers
- Collaborate with individuals and organizations to expedite common objectives
- Foster new partnerships with other organizations to achieve common goals.
- Organize meet-ups and conferences to identify opportunities and expedite change
- Organize local and international retreats at less explored destinations for the purpose of networking
- Monetize the platform to make it sustainable in the long run.
WHY IS TRAVEL GIRLS PAKISTAN IMPORTANT TO US?
This project is really close to our hearts. Projects like these are the stepping stones for much bigger initiatives. They work as pilot projects and help us see and realize the potential and opportunities ahead of us.
