Attabad Lake Trip – All You Need to Know

Attabad Lake has become one of the favorite places by tourists in Pakistan. The lake gained its popularity because of its history of formation and its beautiful turquoise color. Here we have compiled all the things you want to know for this trip.

How To Get to Attabad Lake 

Getting to the lake from Hunza Valley is very easy. It is an hour and half drive from Karimabad. The Karakoram Highway goes right to the Attabad Lake. At the lake there are several view points to stop and enjoy the lake. Roadside teashops, restaurants, camping sites and hotel will be visible as you move a the along the lake. The guest houses and snack bars are along the river but they are not all in one spot.

There are several tunnels along side the attabad lake but unfortunately they do not have ventalliation and is very polluted. Make sure to roll up your car windows while crossing them. Bikers should get masks and cover mouth and wear googles/ glasses. 

Activities 

Once you reach Attabad Lake there are opportunity to go for boating which is by far the popular thing to do. During the summers it can cost upto PKR 1000 for the boat trip on the lake and the line for boat enthusiasts is long. It is an hour long boat ride which cicles back to the starting point or goes straight up stream to the other end. 

Few people go for jet skiing while majority choose to snack and enjoy the view before they continue their journey.

Other options for stay are in Hunza which is an hour away from the lake or to move upstream towards Gulmit which is 30 mins drive from the lake. Both locations have several hotels and guest houses.
