Passu is a place of great significance and beauty in Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. There are so many places to visit about the Gilgit Baltistan region but Passu in Upper Hunza region has a great distinction and is immensely famed among the tourists from all over the world because of its location along Karakoram Highway (KKH), its amazing mountains, the people and the unusually terrain. Passu is a fresh break from the rugged KKH and all the similar town and people.
Most tourist and backpacker choose to stop at Passu. Because of the peaceful inns and hotels and great camping spots as well as many small trails and hiking location within the village.
Passu is about 150 kilometres from Gilgit city . It lies along sides of two massive glaciers; Passu Glacier and Batura Glacier. Batura glacier is one the world longest and largest glaciers outside polar region.
The highest point of Passu is Batura Sar at an alevation of 7,478 m (24,534 ft) . Tu Popdan /Passu Cathedral towering above the village is most prominent and eyey catching the height about 6 ,106 meters.
The village looks beautiful with a unique landscape, the highest mountains of the world, the meadows, the barren lands, the terrains, the plateau creeks as well as the glaciers. The people speak Wakhi language.
Tourists love to cross the hanging foot bridge built by the locals to get to Khurambad, trek to the two glaciers, Batura Lake and many other areas within the village.
